Spiritual well-being refers to an understanding that an individual possesses about themselves, the source of existence (God), others as members of the human community, and the absolute existence and what exists. In other words, spiritual well-being includes the following four components:

  • 1. Individual's perspective and attitude towards themselves.
  • 2. Individual's perspective and attitude towards the source of existence (God).
  • 3. Individual's perspective towards others.
  • 4. Individual's perspective and attitude towards the world of existence.

To the extent that these perspectives are strong, the individual enjoys a higher level of spiritual well-being, and its signs are observable in the fundamental psychological needs of the individual, namely the threefold needs (progress, security, uniqueness). Spirituality that leads to spiritual well-being must necessarily meet psychological needs first and foremost. The first expectation that an individual has of spirituality is to what extent they have received the meaning of their life from their spirituality, and the importance of this meaning is that it directly gives identity to the individual. Identity is an acquired matter that an individual strives for throughout life, especially during adolescence, to find their identity, and to acquire identity, one must have a strong foundation of spiritual well-being.
