Pursuit is one of the four attributes related to cognitive toughness. Findings from a study investigating the relationship between emotional thinking and psychological toughness showed that psychological toughness, especially commitment and perseverance, is the strongest predictor of pursuit. Positive commitment predicts pursuit and, accompanied by perseverance, predicts the occurrence of body tremors, feelings of hunger, and thirst. In other words, genuine curiosity about the surrounding world in the context of commitment can be aligned with stimulating curiosity in facing an ambiguous issue to discover the truth of the phenomenon in the context of pursuit. The stable personality trait also has a positive relationship with pursuit and a negative relationship with curiosity experience. Additionally, the results have shown that the independence trait also has a positive relationship with curiosity experience and pursuit. The very important inference is that considering the strong relationship of the four personality traits (including: excitement, activity, stability, and independence) with cognitive toughness factors (which include curiosity experience, pursuit, body tremors, hunger, and thirst), it can be concluded that cognitive toughness is not merely an emotional trait, but rather a personality trait. Curiosity experience and pursuit are actually considered personality traits associated with the two emotional traits of body tremors, hunger, and thirst.
